Suitable for batoning, the Companion Heavy Duty features a thick, 1/8-inch (3.2mm) carbon steel blade with a slightly blunter 27 Degree edge angle for high load capacity and maximum sharpness resistance. The Companion HD has an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft high-friction grip. The classic scandi grind combined with high quality carbon steel makes the knife easy to resharpen.
Mora knives made from high carbon steel achieve high hardness, sharpen easily and are exceptionally tough. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and more durably acute edge. Mora Knives are made from high-quality Sandvik steel. Sandvik knife steels are characterized by ultra-fine carbides that result in superb forging and hardening properties. The absence of large carbide deposits promotes excellent edge sharpness for optimum cutting performance ergonomically-designed handles and employ premium-quality knife steel that is optimally adapted to the task for which the knife is intended.
CARING FOR YOUR MORA KNIFE: All non-stainless steel knives will rust in damp or corrosive environments. The acids in fruits or vegetables can cause a discoloration or patina on the blade. It is recommended to clean and/or wipe dry and then oil the blade after use. If using with food, the blade can be wiped down with olive oil or coconut oil. Stainless steel blades do not require as much maintenance but can get spots etc. if the blade is not kept clean. Both types of blades can be washed with a mild soap and dried not in a dishwasher.
