Highly detailed 1/144 scale assembly model kit of the German U-Boat ("Unterseeboot" or "Undersea Boat"), a military submarine operated by the German Navy in World War I and World War II. U-boats were highly successful in destroying Allied supply and merchant shipping in both world wars, and it wasn t until the Allies adopted the convoy system in World War II, in which merchant ships were grouped together and protected by a screen of escort vessels, that U-Boat menace was finally tamed. The German Kriegsmarine ("War Navy") further developed U-Boats in the Second World War, leading to a new generation of more technologically advanced U-Boats such as the Type VII, which was by far the most produced type. This Revell Germany 1/144 scale assembly kit depicts the Type VIIC41 U-Boat, the slightly modified Type VIIC with a stronger pressure hull allowing it to achieve a deeper test depth and lighter machinery to compensate for the added steel in the hull.
