Sawyer s first aid pack of SAM splints is a complete solution for your emergency first aid or disaster kit that helps protect and immobilize injured extremities including fingers, wrists, arms and legs. The lightweight 4 ounce, compact and easy to transport protection pack includes one 36-inch long original SAM splint, two SAM finger splints, one gauze roll, tape strips and an instructional DVD. Built from a thin core of aluminum alloy and sandwiched between two layers of closed-cell foam, the SAM splint bends into any of three simple curves to give the splint strength to immobilize a fractured or injured limb. The SAM splint is extremely moldable and soft enough to cut with ordinary household scissors. The splint can remain in place on an injured extremity during X-rays thanks to the radiolucent materials used in its construction. The waterproof splints are easy to clean and re-shapeable for multiple reuses.

How THE SAM Splint Works
The SAM Splint is based on an ancient construction principle: curves are strong. The same physics that allows skyscrapers and bridges to be built of I-beams and hollow columns rather than heavy steel pillars makes the SAM Splint strong. A flat piece of sheet metal bends easily, but if you mold it into any of several "structural curves," it becomes much more rigid. Many such curves are possible, but for Splinting with the SAM Splint, you need only three basic curves, which are explained in the included DVD.
